The Villa Rica Planning & Zoning Commission's primary role as its name implies, is to plan. The Villa Rica Planning & Zoning Commission is a body of citizens that serve within local government, acting as an advisory group to the municipal governing body on issues and policies related to planning, land use regulation and community development.
The Villa Rica Planning & Zoning Commission is charged with developing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan and submitting the plan and its elements to the City Council. The Planning & Zoning Commission also reviews and makes recommendations regarding changes to the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map. The Planning & Zoning Commission also hears, reviews and makes recommendations regarding all zoning applications and conditional use permit applications.
The Villa Rica Planning & Zoning Commission meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Holt-Bishop Justice Center; located at 101 Main Street, Villa Rica, Georgia at 6:00 P.M. All meetings are open to the public. Applications are required for the following: Rezoning, Annexations, Concept Plans, Subdivision Plats, Land Development and Assignment to Addressing.
Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission serve two-year terms, without a limit on the number of terms a member may serve.
Failure to attend three (3) out of four consecutive meetings, or more, shall be considered automatic resignation from the Planning & Zoning Commission. Upon resignation by other means, or other vacancies occurring in office, the Chairman or Secretary (Zoning Administrator) shall inform the City Council of such occurrence as promptly as possible, so that the Council may appoint a replacement to fill the unexpired term.
