Councilman Danny Carter
Danny Carter is the representative for Ward 5. This is his third four year term, and his second as the Ward 5 representative. His first term was prior to redistricting. He was the representative for Ward 1 from 2004 through 2007.

He moved to Marietta, Georgia and began a career at Lockheed on September 1, 1966 after graduating from Mississippi State as an Aerospace Engineer. His work in flight test, structural test, and special projects involved several programs, including the C-5, C-130, and F-22. He retired on December 1, 1999 after 33 years with Lockheed.

He began building a house in Villa Rica on Edge Road in January of 2000, and moved to Villa Rica on November 21, 2000 with his wife, Linda, and youngest daughter, Shelley.

Danny and Linda were married on January 21, 1967. They have 3 children -- Bobby, Kathy, and Shelley -- and 2 grandchildren -- Ella and Sam. He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica.

Prior to his first term on the City Council, he served as a Planning & Zoning Commissioner. After his first term, he was appointed by the 2008 council to the Public Facility Authority for construction oversight of the new Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Danny is a conservative who has successfully fought for reductions of the millage rate, which has resulted in reduced property taxes for all Villa Rica homeowners. He wants controlled growth for Villa Rica. He is a strong supporter of the Villa Rica Police Department and the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department. Safety and quality of life are very important for Villa Rica. One of his goals is to make the City of Villa Rica a people-friendly community.
