Villa Rica is Georgia's 94th Certified Local Government

Villa Rica retains its identity as a small southern town with an appreciation for its rich heritage.  While cultivating and encouraging growth and prosperity, Villa Rica preserves the charm and civility that are hallmarks of the south.  The Villa Rica Historic Preservation Commission protects Villa Rica's heritage by researching local history, identifying significant historic sites, promoting education, and developing measures to preserve these sites.  Success in this mission is achieved when Villa Rica grows while preserving the spirit and symbols of its past.

The Downtown Historic Commercial Districts are locally designated districts and as such, a Certificate of Appropriateness is required before any renovations are made that involve the outside of the building.  Please see the Villa Rica Downtown Commercial Design Guidelines below for more information, or contact the Community Development Department at 770-459-7000.
