Welcome! The City of Villa Rica, located in the northern portion of Carroll County and western Douglas County, is in the west central section of Georgia, approximately 35 miles west of Atlanta, Georgia, 90 miles east of Birmingham, Alabama and 85 miles north of Columbus, Georgia. The estimated population of The City of Villa Rica is 11,500 and the City is among the fastest growing areas in the State.
Located on Interstate 20 at Exits 24 and 26, the City is a regional economic center for west central Georgia and east Alabama. Additionally, State Route 61 and U S Highway 78 intersect the City, making it the perfect location for manufacturing and transportation entities. Tanner Healthcare Systems recently opened a state-of-the-art Medical Center in Villa Rica. Due to the bi-county location of the city limits, Villa Rica is home to schools from both the Carroll County and Douglas County school systems.
The birthplace of legendary jazz musician and father of gospel music Thomas A Dorsey, Villa Rica annually hosts the Dorsey Festival along with a diverse list of other cultural events. From April through November, there is something for nearly every taste: from the Bluegrass Festival to the Summer Concert Series, from Gold Rush Days to the community sing-a-long at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Villa Rica's Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza rivals all other fireworks displays in the area. And Historic Downtown is a regional shopping destination with a wide variety of restaurants and shops, many with the feel of an old mercantile but just as many with the latest in fashion and interior design.
